Pattaya Seasons: Weather by Month and the Best Time to Visit

When to visit Pattaya: a breakdown of the three seasons, monthly weather and temperatures, the cheapest times to go, and what to pack. Includes a 2026 rainfall

I often see tourists running through the Pattaya heat in a sudden downpour, having overpaid for a flimsy umbrella — when they simply could have visited in a different month. The weather here follows clear rules, and knowing them in advance will make your trip more comfortable and cheaper. Let's break down Pattaya's seasons, the month-by-month weather, and when it's cheapest to fly.

Pattaya's Climate: What You Need to Know

Pattaya is located in a tropical climate zone with distinct seasons. The city is luckier than islands like Koh Samui and Phuket: it sits on the shores of a gulf, and the seasonal monsoons raging in the Andaman Sea reach here significantly weakened. There are no drastic temperature drops here — it's warm all year round.

The main factor isn't the temperature (which is always between 28–35 °C / 82–95 °F), but rather the humidity and rainfall. In the dry season, the air feels light; in the rainy season, it's sticky, and by the afternoon, it can rain cats and dogs. The ocean and wind dictate the rules: in the summer, while storms batter the islands, the water in Pattaya Bay is often perfectly calm, and in the winter, a cool sea breeze provides relief from the heat.

The Main Secret
There is no extreme cold in Pattaya, but there is extreme heat. The goal is to choose a month when it's comfortable to walk around during the day, rather than hiding in the air conditioning.

Three Seasons: Cool, Hot, and Rainy

Thailand officially recognizes three seasons.

Cool and Dry (November — February)

This is the high season. The air is dry, temperatures are comfortable, and tourists from all over the world flock here.

  • Weather: During the day it's +29…+31 °C, dropping to +22…+24 °C at night. The locals put on jackets, and tourists enjoy the cool breeze.
  • The Sea: Calm and clear. The best time for island tours and snorkeling.
  • Cons: Housing and service prices are at their highest, and beaches and hotels are packed.

Hot (March — May)

The sun is directly overhead, and the heat intensifies. It remains dry, but the temperature goes off the charts. This is the time of the Thai New Year, Songkran (April 13–15), when the city is flooded with water and festivities.

  • Weather: During the day +33…+36 °C, and not dropping below +27 °C at night. The sea is like warm milk.
  • Pros: There are fewer tourists, and prices start to drop.
  • Warning: In April and May, jellyfish may appear near the shore after storms.

Rainy (June — October)

There's no need to be afraid of it. Rain in Pattaya isn't an all-day downpour, but rather heavy, short tropical showers, usually in the second half of the day.

  • Weather: +30…+32 °C, with high humidity. The sky is often cloudy.
  • Rainfall: It pours for 1–2 hours, then clears up. In 15 minutes, streets can turn into streams, but the water recedes quickly.
  • Pros: The lowest prices, empty beaches, and lush green nature.
About the Waves
Unlike the islands, Pattaya doesn't have huge waves that wash away beach loungers during the rainy season. However, if you're heading to Ko Lan in July or August, check the forecast — ferries may be canceled due to rough seas.

For Lovers of Quiet
If you don't like crowds — choose June or November. In June, it's still warm and cheap; in November, it's already dry, but the peak prices haven't hit yet.

When is it Cheaper to Go

The so-called low season — from May to October — will be budget-friendly, with prices hitting "rock bottom" usually between July and September.

  • 3★ Hotel in the center: In the high season 1200–1800 ฿/night, in the low season — 500–800 ฿.
  • Condo by the sea (e.g., Jomtien): In winter from 20,000 ฿/month, in May-June — 10,000–15,000 ฿.
Scooter Rental by Season
- High season: 300–350 ฿/day (about 4500 ฿/month).
- Low season: 200–250 ฿/day (can be found for 2500–3000 ฿/month).

Flight tickets in the low season are also a pleasant surprise — often 30–40% cheaper than during the New Year dates.

What to Pack

Packing for Thailand is different from packing for Turkey or Egypt.

Cool Season (November — February):

  • Light cotton, shorts, T-shirts. For the Sanctuary of Truth and other temples, wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees.
  • SPF 50+ sunscreen. The sun is intense even in December.

Hot Season (March — May):

  • The lightest fabrics possible: linen and cotton. Don't wear synthetics — you'll boil.
  • A wide-brimmed hat or cap. A head covering is priority #1.

Rainy Season (June — October):

  • Quick-drying clothes. Leave your jeans at home.
  • Rubber flip-flops that you don't mind ruining.
  • A cheap rain poncho from 7-Eleven (10 ฿) — much more convenient than an umbrella, which the wind will just blow away.
  • A waterproof pouch for your phone and money.
In Thailand, it's not customary to wear shoes indoors. In restaurants and shops, you'll often leave your flip-flops at the entrance — so choose footwear that is easy to slip off.

Understanding the weather is half the battle for a successful vacation. Don't be afraid of the rainy season: after a downpour, the city is washed and fresh, and the prices are a joy. If your goal is guaranteed sunshine every day, plan your trip for December or January, but be sure to book your accommodation 2–3 months in advance. Have a wonderful vacation in our Pearl of Siam.
